About the Opportunity:

• Our client, a rapidly expanding organization, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced middle to senior level legal counsel to join their team. They are looking for someone with a strong background in law firms or in-house legal departments, specifically in capital market products and services, the Web3 space, CeFi crypto space, digital assets, and related legal and regulatory matters. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the legal landscape of the Web3 space and collaborate closely with the Web3 team on innovative initiatives. The ideal candidate should possess excellent research and writing skills, exceptional judgment, a keen understanding of risk assessment, and a strong work ethic.

Responsiblities: 

• Provide legal counsel and support to our DeFi/Web3 and CeFi products, as well as internal stakeholders, regarding existing and new product offerings, product rollouts, and retirement.
• Collaborate directly with various business teams to anticipate and address legal, compliance, and regulatory risks and issues associated with existing and new product offerings.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial and user agreements.
• Independently develop, draft, and manage terms for new products and services, as well as terms and conditions for events, disclaimers, and warning notices.
• Partner with our risk, compliance, and licensing teams to provide ongoing support in monitoring legal and regulatory changes relevant to the DeFi/Web3 space, CeFi space, digital assets, and technology across multiple jurisdictions.
• Conduct research on various topics, including but not limited to issues in the Web3 space.
• Coordinate cross-functional legal input by closely collaborating with other members of the legal and compliance division.

Requirements: 

• Law degree holder (LLB/J.D.) qualified in Hong Kong, Singapore, and/or other major common law jurisdictions.
• Qualified lawyer with at least 8-12 years of post-qualification experience in a reputable local firm in Singapore, an international law firm, or a top local law firm.
• Deep expertise in capital market products and services, including regulatory exemptions, digital assets, centralized and decentralized protocols, and related legal and regulatory matters.
• Understanding of product lifecycles is advantageous.
• Experience in structuring exotic products is advantageous.
• Business-driven mindset with the ability to provide solutions that facilitate business objectives.
• Commitment to the team's success, willingness to assist team members in need, and ability to handle multiple tasks, duties, and projects.
• Sound judgment in business practices, internal and external stakeholder relationship management, and reputational risk.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage crises, and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English and Mandarin.
• Well-organized, detail-oriented, presentable, and possessing excellent drafting and communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Ability to approach situations and challenges with a sense of humor.
• In-house experience at fintech and digital asset/crypto companies would be advantageous.
